These rates are NJEA dues rates only. They do not include dues rates for NEA, the county association or the local association.
Any (certified) person who is regularly employed in a professional education capacity in a New Jersey public school, college, university, institution, or agency. Active members must join on a unified basis at the national, state, county, and local (if eligible) levels.
(Example: teachers, administrators, counselors, nurses and comp ed teachers, full-time or contracted substitutes, etc.)
Any person employed in other than a professional education capacity in a public or state school, college, university, or other institution or agency operating under the laws of the State of New Jersey. Active supportive members must join on a unified basis at the national, state, county, and local (if eligible) levels.
(Example: School secretary, clerk, custodian, bus driver, cafeteria staff, etc.; teacher aides and paraprofessionals who are under the supervision of a fully certified teacher.)
The dues for persons eligible for active professional or active supportive membership who work less than 25 hours per week shall be one-half of the full dues for their respective active membership category.
The dues for persons eligible for active professional or active supportive membership who are on an approved unpaid leave of absence shall be one-half of the full dues for their respective membership category.
Retired members who are receiving a pension from the New Jersey Teachers Pension and Annuity Fund or the Public Employees Retirement System. (Does not includes membership in County REA.)
Professional life membership is $1800 while ESP members who join for life pay a one-time fee of $880. (Does not include life membership in County REA.)
Any person engaged in any professional education capacity in New Jersey who is self-employed, employed in a private or parochial school. Payment of General Professional membership dues is on a cash basis (payroll deduction is not available).
Undergraduate or graduate students in a New Jersey college or university preparing to become teachers. Student members are required to unify with SNEA. (Contact Membership Processing) Does not include graduate school students who are on leave of absence or sabbatical provided by a school board.
Any person interested in advancing the cause of public education in New Jersey. Subscribing members receive the publications of the Association, may attend the Convention held in Atlantic City and make use of the NJEA Travel Service. NOTE: Per diem substitutes may join in this category. Contact NJEA Membership Office.
Persons qualifying for active unified membership may become NJEA life members. For life membership applications please contact the NJEA Membership Office.
NOTE: Members must maintain unified membership, via APD or cash, at the local, county, and national levels.
